Your Specific Responsibilities:

This is work providing professional dental hygiene services consisting of prophylaxis, root planning, curettage and delegated remediable tasks. Work may also consist of the promotion and establishment of population-based dental preventive and educational programs and related dental public health activities.


Public Health Competency Domain 1: Analytical/Assessment – Uses information technology in accessing, collecting, analyzing, using, maintaining, and dissemination data and information as part of the QI Team for the Clinic


Public Health Competency Domain 2: Policy Development/Program Planning Skills

  • Implements the strategies developed by the QI Team for quality improvement at the clinic level.
  • Works with the senior dentist to implement the policies, programs, and services of the Dental Program appropriately and accurately
  • Removes calculus deposits, accretions and stains from exposed surfaces of the teeth and from the tooth surfaces within the gingival sulcus
  • Performs gingival curettage and root planing.
  • Pre-assesses and charts suspected findings of the oral cavity.
  • Takes diagnostic x-rays
  • Takes vital signs.
  • Performs Caries Risk Assessments
  • Records procedures performed in treatment record.
  • Applies sealants and topical fluorides.
  • Polishes clinical crowns and restorations.
  • Instructs patients in oral hygiene care and supervises patient oral hygiene care.
  • Performs remediable tasks as delegated in the Dental Practice Act.
  • Manages the preventive dental recall program
  • Assists with scheduling and confirming patients
  • Monitors infection control program

Qualifications:

Minimum – Active Florida Dental Hygiene License and current CPR/AED Certification – Chapter 466, Florida Statutes

Preferred – Certified Registered Dental Hygienist, Chapter 466, Florida Statutes
