Propane Delivery Driver

Location: Florida

Overseeing all aspects of the retail propane delivery department operations. Ensure that the Delivery Department safely performs their functions to achieve strategic operational and profit goals while providing assurance of compliance with applicable legal codes, industry standards and corporate philosophy. The Delivery Manager will exhibit and participate in Chesapeake Utilities Corporation's CHOICE Vision, Mission and Values, regarding external customers, internal departments and co-workers.

• Directly supervises all employees in the Delivery Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. In absence of plant maintenance person, the delivery manager will be required to fill customer tanks at the dock.
• Handles customers’ complaints and comments concerning energy deliveries and work with District Manager in solving those comments and complaints.
• Performs other duties that become necessary to ensure that customers’ needs are met as directed by the District Manager.

• Dispatch propane deliveries made by delivery trucks and supervise the delivery drivers.
• Prepare and monitor delivery schedules for bulk deliveries.
• Dispatch and review deliveries made by delivery truck in the most effective and efficient manner.
• Preparation and monitoring of delivery system.
• Make optimum use of truck availability, driver time and computerized dispatching systems in the dispatching of deliveries.
• Check credit status on customers prior to delivery.
• Performs appropriate file maintenance on customer accounts needed to insure accurate computerized delivery to these accounts.
• Write up upgrades that are needed and give to the Service Manager.
• Monitor delivery system regarding:
  • Adequate tank sizing
  • Delivery intervals
  • Route sequences
• Monitor metered inventory reporting and delivery efficiency Report from ADDS Systems.
• Print delivery tickets for each successive delivery route.
• Preparation and maintenance of truck files to comply with DOT regulations.
• Administers company programs designed to comply with Federal, State and local regulations dealing with delivery vehicles and drivers.
• Ensures all vehicles have proper licenses and permits.
• Ensures all DOT record keeping is properly maintained. Maintains vehicle files as required by law. Maintains driver’s daily logs, daily vehicle inspections and vehicle reports. Maintain vehicle IFTA fuel report.
• Schedule delivery vehicle maintenance.

You possess an Associate Degree or related experience in the Delivery Department and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Must be familiar with the operating aspects of the bulk delivery trucks, and have a general understanding of propane, all applicable codes, regulations and procedures pertaining to the Company and industry. A CDL with Haz-Mat.

You possess the ability to create, customize and apply intermediate Microsoft Word and Excel skills to many variable spreadsheets and office documentation. Intermediate Windows skills required to navigate, store and apply filed folder management, and general software applications.
