HERFF JONES, Cutting Machine Operator – Edwardsville, KS

Your Opportunity:
The Herff Jones Yearbook team is looking for a Cutting Machine Operator to join our team in Edwardsville, KS.

Shift: Monday-Friday:

· Must be able to work BOTH shifts: 6am-2:30pm AND 3:30pm-12:00am

· Must be able to work weekend overtime during the peak season (January-May). This will include Saturday and Sunday as well as extended hours on a regular shift.

As a member of the Yearbook Bindery Production Team, you will work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment printing high school and college yearbooks to help our customers celebrate some of their greatest achievements. While you’ll lean heavily on your technical abilities, your greatest asset will be your drive and commitment to quality and safety. We live and work in a team environment and rely heavily on each other to assist across a variety of functions and on various machines so if you have a commitment to quality and a passion for your teammates, we want you!

What We Want You to Accomplish:

First 30 Days:

• Read detailed work orders to determine setup specifications and efficiently set up your assigned machine.
• Learn to operate a cutting machine to cut covers for the cover department and digital bindery along with any other products that need trimmed or cut.

First 60 days:

• Initiate trial runs to verify accuracy of machine setup.

First 90 Days:

• Observe and monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions and to determine whether adjustments are needed.
• Maintain perfect attendance

What You’ll Be Doing On A Daily Basis:

• Operates and maintains cutting table during a shift
• Completes scheduled maintenance on cutting table during shift
• Loads/unloads material from cutting table and skids
• Quality checks every job that comes off cutting table

• Reads and understands work orders and know where to deliver to the next department
• Scans jobs through in YBS
• Practices policies regarding safety and personnel/benefit issues
• Assists in meeting work quota
• Communicates with all employees including other shifts
• Maintains a good working relationship with lead person and fellow workers
• Maintains a clean and organized work environment
• Assists in other areas as work backlogs dictate
• Additional duties and tasks may be assigned to fulfill assignments or complete work in the Cover Plant/Digital Bindery

What You’ll Bring to the Table:

• High School or GED
• High mechanical aptitude
• Multi-tasking skills
• High attention to detail
• Proven ability (1 year or more preferred) to excel in a high production manufacturing environment which focuses on safety, quality control, and organization
• Previous success maintaining a strong attendance and on time record
