POSITION SUMMARY

The laundry Specialist plays a critical role in providing clean laundry for staff and clients. The Laundry Specialist plays a key role in accomplishing the mission of inventory of linen, laundry and belongings as well as complete quality control. By working within the core values of the organization. Also, by helping in different locations as needed. Will be communicating between different departments to solve problems and keep patients satisfactory.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

· Completes laundry duties for both the Detox & Residential teams.

· Properly sorts, washes and dries linens following the approved laundry procedures.

· Folds, counts and stacks linens following approved laundry procedures.

· Collects soiled linens along with redistributing clean linens.

· Transports supplies to include clean and soiled linen to the appropriate storage and collection areas.

· Routinely inspects linens for wear and tear, identifying worn and torn linens to ensure quality

· Maintains the laundry area in a clean, orderly and sanitary condition.

· Sorts intake client belongings, identifying contraband and items that can’t be laundered or sprayed.

· Sanitizes all client belongings per Fora Health policies and procedures.

· General House keeping as needed

· Responding to accidents and custodial emergencies as needed.

· Cleaning the rooms, hallways and other public spaces at all facilities as needed.

· Cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms as needed

· Sanitizing rooms with the use of a bleach solution or currently approved chemical and a steam cleaner when appropriate.

· Periodic cleaning of the outside of the building including the sidewalk and windows with the use of a pressure washer and window cleaning equipment.

· Damp mopping floors, halls and stairwells

· Refilling bathroom dispensers as needed.

· Spot cleaning walls, doors and partitions as needed.

ADDITIONAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

· Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

· Able to stand for a long period of time

· Able to identify and perform basic assessment of laundry issues

· This position also requires the ability to work in multiple Portland area facilities

· Bilingual applicants encouraged to apply

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Verification of Sobriety, per Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR) standards
• DHS Background Check Approval or alternate Criminal History Check agency approval
• Successful completion of Drug Test upon hire
• Documentation of Tuberculian test and/or evaluation with negative results or evidence of non-communicability

WORKING CONDITIONS

· Conversing with others in person and by phone

· Reading computer screens, correspondence, forms, etc.

· Moving from one area of the facility to another
