- The hourly equivalent for this position is $32.56 - $53.07.

Position Highlights:
The Curry County Circuit Courtis hiring a Supervisor 3 (Curry County Supervisor) to assist the Trial Court Administrator in the management of court operations.
NOTE: This position is part of a classification study. The study may result in a change to the current job profile and salary in Spring 2023.
Your supervisory responsibility is to determine, schedule, assign, and monitor the work of up to nine (9) subordinate staff and ensure the integrity of the case record in OJD’s case management system (Odyssey). In collaboration with the trial court administrator, you will determine the court’s needs, assist with questions about policy and procedures, and discuss organizational policy along with other management team members.
As a working supervisor, you will possess a body of court knowledge and will learn and understand the different court matters and case types of a general jurisdiction court. You will be the subject matter expert who will resolve the most complex case issues and questions relayed or elevated to you by your assigned staff. You will provide backup for and coordinate the work of team leads, orientation plans for new employees, and ongoing training for all assigned staff. You will take part of all phases of a new staff search, from formulating and updating position descriptions to screening and hiring.
Additionally, you will prepare and conduct performance reviews and are responsible for documenting and developing disciplinary action. It will be your responsibility to resolve work assignment and subordinate interpersonal conflicts. You will address all personnel issues within the department and keep the Trial Court Administrator aware of potential personnel problems. However, this court location is a distance of 75 miles from the Coos County Circuit Court location; the person in this position must be comfortable working independently and making decisions based on established rules and principles.

Minimum Qualifications

The qualified applicant must have at least three (3) years of recent experience supervising, directly or through lead workers, staff performing a wide variety of administrative, analytical, and technical support duties. The supervisory experience must include most or all of the following:
- special projects
- developing and updating policies and procedures,
- hiring or recommending hiring,
- training,
- assigning and reviewing work,
- evaluating performance,
- responding to staff concerns, and
- handling disciplinary actions.
AND
Possession of an Associate’s degree in business, management, or a related field.
OR
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to four (4) years that supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.

Requested Skills and Attributes

- Experience supervising staff, including training, motivating, communicating expectations, assigning and evaluating work, and handling discipline.
- Experience recognizing, addressing, and managing conflict in a business or professional setting, and also making decisions to resolve issues, complaints, or conflict.
- Knowledge of Oregon’s court system, or another similar court system, and the different court case types.
- Experience creating and developing business processes and recognizing when they should change.
- Experience making decisions related to workflow, priorities, and assignments of a work unit and individual staff.
- Experience evaluating statutory, rule, or system changes to ensure rules, processes, or procedures are compliant and meet all necessary requirements.
- Experience explaining rules, policies, procedures, and decisions.
- Experience and working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet software, or databases.
- Possession of a valid, state-issued driver’s license and ability to obtain an Oregon’s driver’s license, as applicable, within 30 days of hire.
Working Conditions
- This is a full-time position, and the work schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of 40 per work week.
- Occasional after-hours may be required.
- Frequent phone and in-person contact with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Frequent phone and in-person contact with people who may be facing challenging life circumstances or highly stressful situations.
- Regular use of the following equipment: telephone, OJD-assigned computer with multiple monitors, copy machine, fax machine, and scanner.
