COVID-19 Informatics Specialist Job at PMHCC Inc.
Position Summary: (20 Employees needed)
This position involves high-level staff work supporting informatics and technology projects for the Division of Disease Control (DDC). The DDC Informatics Specialist may provide technical support for any of the Program areas within the Division, including communicable disease control, immunizations, and sexually transmitted diseases. Activities include server management, managing web applications, programming, database support, and monitoring Electronic Case Reporting (eCR).
This position is full-time, Monday through Friday. The position is grant funded for a minimum of 12 months. Continuation of the position is subject to the status of the pandemic response.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the maintenance of MAVEN as the communicable disease surveillance system for DDC, including SQL programming for workflows and reports, and working towards incorporation of electronic lab reports from PDPH’s Lab Information System and from hospitals labs
- Monitor MAVEN application for proper database backups, data extracts, and overall health of application
- Develop or refine eCR interfaces to allow for electronic laboratory reporting data transfer between laboratories and the communicable disease surveillance system
- Use Orion’s Rhapsody integration engine to translate, transform, and archive eCR messages
- Create and maintain code mappings, when necessary, for translating local codes to standard codes for each facility sending eCR messages
- Provide regular updates on status of all eCR interface projects (development, assistance, and maintenance) to Program Management
- Assist with grant-related support for specific activities
- Serve as liaison between Health Department IT Division and DDC Program Managers on DDC initiatives and projects
- Support general Division IT needs, including responding to specific issues and training staff on use of IT applications
- Assist in IT strategic planning and contingency planning for DDC
Skills Required:
- Required:
- SQL/database experience in MS SQL Server environment
- Strong written and oral communication skills with good organizational skills
- Ability to function independently and in a team setting
- Not required but strongly preferred:
- HL7, LOINC, SNOMED-CT, and Integration Engine experience
- XML, XSLT, XSL-FO, XSL-PATH
- Java, JavaScript, Microsoft .NET
- EHR / EMR or LIMS experience
Education and Experience:
- This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university, which has included major course work in computer science, information science, or a closely related field
- At least one year experience working in the Information Technology field
