We have an opportunity for a Court Reporter. We are seeking qualified individuals responsible to provide court reporting services within assigned courtrooms or other court proceedings. The ideal candidate shall possess a current Certified Shorthand Reporter (CSR) certificate issued by the Court Reporters' Board of California, possess real-time skills and report court proceedings at a rate of 200 words per minute.

Essential Employment
Court operations are considered essential for our constitutional form of government in providing due process and protecting the public. Therefore, all Court employees are considered essential employees as they deliver statutorily mandated, time-sensitive and emergency services in times of local, state and national emergencies. This position is not eligible for full-time teleworking.

Public Safety
The Superior Court of California, County of Riverside continues to follow all California Department of Public Health/ CalOSHA guidelines, and state and local public health orders to ensure the safety of all court users, judicial officers and employees while balancing access to justice during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The court has implemented various programs and policies that aim to achieve a balance between protecting the health and safety of our employees and delivering statutorily mandated essential services. This includes the required use of face coverings, with limited permissible exceptions, personal protective equipment offered at entrances, inside courtrooms, and other high-traffic areas, enhanced disinfection and cleaning of facilities and high-traffic areas, and by offering remote technology options for court users that promote social distancing by both reducing the number of people appearing in person and allowing for some telework opportunities for employees.

Selection Procedures:

Step I: All applications will be reviewed to identify candidates who meet the minimum qualifications. Those candidates will be referred to step II in the selection process.

Step II: All applications who meet the minimum qualifications will be reviewed by the Subject Matter Experts. Successful candidates may be invited to an oral interview.

Step III: Those candidates who are successful in the interview (weighted 100%) may be placed on the eligible list. Placement on the eligible list is not a guarantee of employment.

MEDICAL PLAN and Dental PLAN

The Court offers medical and dental plans.

Employees may waive the Court-offered Medical and Hospital Plan, if they provide proof of other current "group" health plan coverage.

(MEDICAL FLEXIBLE BENEFIT PROGRAM)

The Court contributes an amount each month, which is determined by the "Type of Enrollment" on behalf of each regular employee in a paid status, who is enrolled in one of the medical and hospital plans provided by the Superior Court of California, County of Riverside.

Flexible Benefit contributions shall be reduced on a pro-rated basis for an employee working less than full time.

VISION PLAN

The Court offers a vision plan.

ANNUAL LEAVE

Employees in this job class accrue annual leave; pro-rated if less than full time.

LIFE INSURANCE

Court pays a basic term life insurance policy for each SEIU employee.

RETIREMENT

Participation in Public Employee's Retirement System (PERS).

EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (EAP)

EAP is a benefit provided by Superior Court of California, County of Riverside for all employees.

HOLIDAYS

Generally thirteen days per year. Employees are entitled to eight (8) hours of holiday pay for each court recognized holiday.
