Coordinator of Alternative Pathways Job at Middleborough Public Schools
Middleborough Public Schools is looking for a Coordinator of Alternative Pathways. In this role, you will work for Middleborough Public Schools helping to shape and lead our district wide alternative programs, including but not limited to; Futures Academy. The Coordinator of Alternative Pathways will generally be required to perform some or all of the following tasks. Note that this list is not all-inclusive and that the administration may also assign other tasks he/she deems appropriate.1. Lead the collaboration with appropriate central office staff and building administrators to develop, implement, assess, and evaluate student services to support students in accessing alternative education programs to support attainment of a high school diploma.2. Act as a Liaison between Futures Academy (district wide high school alternative program) and high school administration3. Assist in coordinating staff efforts in identifying drop out data, student outreach, program coordination, transcript reviews and graduation plan development 4. Provide leadership to responsibly meet the needs of all students, building a functional, productive and innovative learning approaches to the reengagement of students.5. Consult with staff and parents regarding student concerns and refer to outside agencies as appropriate.6. Review transcripts and provide individual student counseling to develop a roadmap of what each student will need to complete school with identified milestones to celebrate success 7. Develop and implement life and career workshops for students. 8. Background knowledge of and experience with students who have emotional disabilities, developmental disabilities, substance use and other social/adjustment challenges.9. Assists staff in behavioral interventions and strategies to assist learning.10. Conduct outreach and educational activities for the staff and community11. Oversee the implementation of educational and clinical services specified in each students Individual Educational Program (IEP) for students re-engaging12. Provide crisis intervention, advocacy, individual, family, and group counseling to survivors and significant others affected by trauma, substance abuse, as well as support to children who have been impacted by substance use in their family.13. Provide resources for faculty and parents to address students needs.14. Work with middle school administration and counselors to identify at risk students while helping to develop appropriate transition and alternative planning for these students. 15. Provides the assigned student population the help needed to become acquainted with the educational programs, support services, policies and procedures, and facilities of the school system.16. Responsible for oversight of all Future Academy staff and daily functioning, including discipline, scheduling, future planning etc. 17. Work collaboratively with faculty and outside agencies, as applicable, in order to best meet the needs of each student.18. Demonstrate professionalism in accordance with school and district expectations and policies.19. Provide guidance and leadership to teachers, parents, and administrators regarding policy, procedures, and the direction of the schools alternative education program. 20. Conduct a comprehensive study of existing and potential alternative programs for the district to ensure programs meet the needs of all students.21. Outreach with community based groups to assist students managing substance use in their home/life22. Other duties as reasonably assigned by the Director of Student Services, Principal, Director of Special Education.
