Coordinated Responder (Multiple Vacancies) Job at Scott County, MN

This position is part of the Scott County Coordinated Response unit and will work with local law enforcement. It is an in-person field position that is primarily be based out of the Scott County Sheriff's Office or local police departments. Hours are generally M-F, 8-4:30, but may vary based on service needs.
This position interacts with members of the public with, or in follow up to, interactions with law enforcement. These may be individuals who are involuntary, have significant mental illness and/or chemical dependency, and have a criminal history. Individuals are often currently in crisis and may be a danger to themselves or others.
We are filling 3 positions: one will work with the Scott County Jail, one with Savage PD, and one with Shakopee PD.Performs psychosocial assessments to determine client safety; facilitates safety response through collaboration with County Attorney’s Office, law enforcement, hospitals, detox centers, community resources, family, and other professionals.
Provides crisis intervention, ongoing safety planning and intervention, and critical incident stress debriefing to divert from further correctional and law enforcement involvement.
Develops and maintains appropriate case planning and evaluation documentation, creating treatment and support planning that meets the needs of a diverse clientele.
Provides education, consultation, and training for other internal and external agencies.
Develops and maintains professional relationships with referral sources, including providing feedback and consultation regarding specific clientele.
Screens for substance use and abuse.
Reviews and updates documentation of the person’s status, with cultural and situational consideration.
Assists with Prepetition Screening responsibilities when individual is a candidate for commitment to the Department of Health and Human Services Commissioner.
Demonstrates working knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations, as well as professional standards of practice, related to mental health case management, community support programming, and commitments.
Works the days and hours necessary to perform all assigned responsibilities and tasks. Must be available (especially during regular business hours or shifts) to communicate with other employees, supervisors, customers, vendors, and any other person or organization with whom interaction is required to accomplish work and employer goals.
Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
Requires a Bachelor's Degree in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields, including but not limited to, Social Work, Psychology, or Nursing and three years’ experience in assessing mental health and/or chemical health symptoms or providing mental health crisis intervention. A valid drivers license and a reliable form of transportation for the performance of work responsibilities are required. Must obtain Critical Incident Certification (CIT) within 6 months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
Background or experience working collaboratively with law enforcement or other first responders.
Ability to speak a second language (Spanish, Somali, American Sign Language, Russian)
Previous experience working with County Social Service Agency and/or in a correctional, law enforcement, or military setting.
Licensure as a Mental Health Professional (LGSW, LICSW, LP, LMFT or LPCC), from an accredited college or university.
Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC)
Knowledge of and experience with person-centered strategies.
Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work effective in cross-cultural settings.
Previous experience or working knowledge of SSIS.
Selection for this position will be based on a minimum qualifications screening and rating of training and experience. Top candidates will be forwarded to the hiring manager or supervisor for consideration for interview and/or additional assessments. Final selection will include a background check and approval by the County Board.
Note - Intermittent, Temporary, and PT positions less than 20 hrs per week are not eligible for benefits.
