Position Summary:
Reports to the food service manager. Responsible for the preparation of facility meals based on pre-planned menus in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and customer directives.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare and cook quantity of food required according to menu and number of detainees.
- Maintain kitchen equipment in orderly workable condition. Ensure work area is safe, clean and sanitary at all times.
- Prepare foods as directed for special facility functions and visitors.
- Assist in cleaning kitchen work areas following each meal.
- Supervise detainees assigned to assist in the cafeteria.
- Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
- Maintain accountability of detainees and property; adhere to safety practices.
It is expected the incumbent will perform other duties as assigned with in his/her scope of work determined by management instead of the reference to capabilities.
Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Food service training, one (1) year of food service or related experience and prior supervisory experience are preferred. A valid food handlers permit is also required, if required by the state of California. Must be the age of 21 years old. Valid driver’s license in the state of California with an acceptable driving record, unless waived by management.
Post Hire Requirements:
Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements and maintain appropriate facility clearance.
