Job Title: Assistant State’s Attorney, Conviction Integrity Unit

Department: Conviction Integrity Unit, Daley Center

Position Description: The Conviction Integrity Unit (CIU) is seeking an ASA with felony trial and appellate experience to review appropriate post-conviction cases to identify and assess those in which new evidence could prove the actual innocence of a person convicted of a felony offense(s).

Working Environment & Reporting Structure: ASAs assigned to the CIU report directly to the CIU Director and Deputy Director, and work in conjunction with all members of CIU, the complex prosecutions investigators, and the CIU Forensic Scientist.

Duties/Requirements: The selected ASA will review appropriate post-conviction cases to identify and assess those in which new evidence could prove the actual innocence of a person convicted of a felony offense(s) as defined by State law; interview witnesses; locate and assess evidence; actively engage as a member of a team; effectively collaborate with other members of the unit on long-term projects; ensure supervisors are well-informed of case developments through regular and timely reporting; and provide recommendations to the CIU Director and Deputy Director.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Felony courtroom experience;

· Knowledge of and experience with investigations;

· Strong, research, writing and oral advocacy skills;

· Strong organizational skills;

· Attention to detail;

· Demonstrates openness to diverse views;

· Excellent communication skills and willingness to coordinate with multiple law enforcement agencies;

· Sound judgment, critical thinking, analytical and effective time management skills;

· Must uphold the mission and values of the CCSAO at all times and support fellow ASAs in doing the same; and

· Must be highly motivated and have strong leadership skills and the ability to promote team building.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,537.00 - $116,152.00 per year
