OUTBOUND DOCK CONTROL DESK OPERATOR
POSITION SUMMARY
Coordinate work activity of the Dock Handlers on the Outbound Dock to ensure safe, efficient, accurate and timely completion of orders.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Open trailers in DCMS and select shipping loads. Track loads, stage straggler cartons and verify carton/pallet counts. Perform final shipment scan.
- Prevent customer chargebacks. Ensure required documents and invoices are prepared and with each shipment (based on customer requirements). Take shipment photos when needed. Make sure all customer shipment requirements are met.
- Timely communicate incorrect, missing and released cartons to CSM and Dock Supervisors. Repack damaged cartons when necessary. Log all repack/hand key cartons.
- Work with extra staff during peak volume days to ensure Dock and safety procedures are being followed. Lead department exercise sessions.
- Watch and count with LTL/Parcel drivers to ensure correct pallet/carton loading. Rectify any variances.
- Complete country of origin paperwork.
- Complete additional projects as designated by the Manager & Supervisor.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent in experience required.
Relevant Work Experience
- At least one year of distribution (preferably shipping) experience.
Technical Skills
- Some DCMS knowledge strongly preferred.
- Able to quickly learn and retain system functions.
- Basic Outlook skills required.
Other Qualifications
- Ability to clearly communicate in person, in writing and on the phone.
- Demonstrate an ability to calmly handle busy production demands and respectively interact with co-workers to accomplish tasks and goals.
