Conductor Trainee Job at Ashland Railway, Inc.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Learn and comprehend the book of rules, timetable, track bulletins, and other safety related documents and follow their instructions.
- Operate track switches and visually inspect their condition to change the direction of cars and locomotives to facilitate in the building of trains and servicing customers.
- Classifying of cars to allow trains to move in the most efficient manner possible.
- Pulling and spotting of rail cars at different customers facilities.
- Relaying instructions for train movement to locomotive engineer via 2 way radio or through hand signals.
- Proper securement of unattended equipment.
- Inspection of trains for damage or other issues that would effect their safe movement.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Ability to walk long distances on uneven surfaces.
- Ability to climb up and down on locomotives and rail cars for securement of equipment.
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in a 24/7 work environment in all outdoor working conditions.
REQUIRED EDUCATION
- High school diploma or GED.
