Climate First Bank is a Florida Benefit Corporation, state chartered, FDIC insured commercial bank. We are the first commercial bank with a mission of reducing atmospheric CO2. Climate First Bank is the third bank started and scaled by serial bank entrepreneur, Ken LaRoe. Having started and sold Florida Choice Bank and First Green Bank, Mr. LaRoe has launched Climate First Bank as a built to last, values based, financial institution. Our first branch opened for business on June 1, 2021, in St. Petersburg, Florida and we have since expanded into the Central Florida market.
We are searching for a BSA/ Compliance Officer to spearhead our Compliance Department. As the BSA/ Compliance Officer, you will be reporting directly to the Board of Directors and ensure adherence to all federal, state, and other applicable regulations related to the Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC and related anti-money laundering regulatory requirements as well as overall compliance related to the ongoing operation and administration of the Bank.

Job Responsibilities
- Perform annual risk assessments of the entire BSA/AML/OFAC area and direct changes and enhancements to the overall program to address and mitigate risks.
- Maintain and periodically update the Bank's compliance program, including policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
- Maintain the comprehensive training program that addresses Bank policies and procedures, as well as applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
- Work closely with senior management and department heads to assist with introduction of new products and services to ascertain that adequate policies and procedures exist or are created.
- Coordinate with federal and state regulatory examiners during BSA and compliance examinations, and function as the primary examination contact.
- Maintain and revise, as necessary, the Bank's compliance program.
- Provide guidance to all employees regarding the interpretation and implementation of BSA and related issues and ensure access to available BSA and compliance resources to all applicable staff.
- Work closely with the third-party internal audit firm, who will conduct reviews of the various areas of the Bank for BSA and compliance adequately addresses compliance issues where appropriate.
- Present regular reports to the Board of Directors concerning the Bank's current record of BSA and compliance.
- Adopt and practice a commitment to social, economic, environmental, and racial justice; Demonstrate interest in contributing to and working by Climate First Bank’s Core Values; Possess the initiative to obtain education related to ESG and sustainability practices. Avoid using single-use plastics; recycle diligently; conserve water and energy in office spaces; use local suppliers when possible, particularly those that are ESG compliant.
Specific Requirements:
- Must have a Bachelor's Degree; Master's preferred.
- Must have BSA and Compliance Accreditation or more than 5-years in a compliance position.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Communication and writing skills are critical.
- Must be able to work well in a team environment.
Physical Demands:
- Sustained standing and sitting;
- Frequent use of PC, including typing or sustained attention to monitor
- Occasional lifting of basic office files or equipment up to 20 lbs.
