Crawford Mechanical Services is in search of Plumbing Apprentices to learn the trade of providing quality plumbing and piping services to our commercial and industrial customers in Central Ohio. Qualified candidates who are eager to learn and aren’t afraid of hard work will be rewarded with top wages and excellent benefits. Ideally, candidates who have the desire to complete an accredited apprenticeship program and do well on your tests and have some laborer/construction background, will be given hiring priority.
What does a Plumbing Apprentice do?
The basic function of an apprentice is to carry out the instructions, orders and directions of the job site foreman and from time to time, the Project Manager. The Apprentice will be responsible for maintaining the tools and the condition of the inside of the company truck, gang box or the job trailer where applicable. The Apprentice will be responsible for maintaining the maintenance, appearance and operation conditions of all company equipment, inventory or vehicles, including operational equipment that may be on the job sites you are assigned to. The Apprentice will be responsible for requesting help as needed. The Apprentice will be attending school for four years one night a week starting in August to May of every year. The work through a 40 hr week will be your “On-the-Job” training which is required of the school.
Plumbing Apprentice job duties:
- Conducts work with proper safety equipment
- Lifts heavy loads up to 70 lbs and navigates construction job site terrain
- Digs pits, trenches and foundations in preparation for job site construction
- Operates heavy machinery, including construction vehicles
- Performs setup and cleanup tasks at job site
- Directs traffic when necessary to ensure safety of pedestrians, motorists and work crew
- Back-fills trenches and pits when necessary
- Provides labor support as needed for specialty crew
- Arrives on time for work every day; works with a sense of urgency
- Communicates professionally and respectfully with customers, office staff and co-workers
- Helps to maintain and promote company morale, professionalism and a friendly work environment
Plumbing Apprentice requirements:
- High School Degree or equivalent desired
- Valid Ohio Driver's License preferred
- Successful background check
- Successful drug test
- Successful driving record (not suspended).
