CNC Set Up Lead Job at Altra Industrial Motion Corp.
- Program, set-up, and operate a minimum of 3 machines (CNC lathes, CNC Mills, saws, broaches, etc.)
- Apply multi-tasking skills often by operating multiple machines and duties in a cell environment.
- Coordinate production activities with Material Handlers, Team Leaders, Supervisors and Shipping Clerks.
- Check quality of parts as needed with measuring devices such as calipers, gages, and micrometers.
- Analyze and adjust or correct controls, tools and fixtures to maintain quality levels during production.
- Aid Team Leader with scheduling for the cell.
- Aid Team Leader with training operators within the cell.
- Apply principles of ABS (Lean Manufacturing) in accordance with Policy Deployment.
- Be an active participant in Kaizen events and Lean Manufacturing trainings as required.
- Ensure a safe working environment exists in the area. Verify safety duties are assigned and completed at the frequency required
- Interface daily with team leaders and managers to guarantee the production facility is meeting all demands
- Support the team members by responding to problems and solving or escalating them
- Understand and follow company policies
- Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience with CNC equipment, preferably with Haas and Mori Seiki
- Ability to read blueprints
- Basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Previous leadership and manufacturing experience
- Working knowledge of lean manufacturing, 6 Sigma, or similar improvement methods
- Experience with SAP a plus
- Basic computer skills with an understanding of Microsoft Office Suite
Physical Demand and Work Environment:
Work environment includes regular exposure to noise levels, dust particles, paint or oil products, and weather changes. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be required to be worn during the shift.
Physical requirements include lifting, bending, kneeling, squatting, arm-hand steadiness, finger dexterity, manual dexterity, control precision, near vision, standing for long periods of time, and hearing sensitivity. Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly.
