Claims Specialist
Position: Claims Specialist (Long-Term Contract)
Start: January 2023
Pay: $25/hour
Hours: 8am ? 5pm (flexible can be 6?3).
Dress Code: Business Casual (jeans okay)
Parking: have to pay for parking on own.
Location: Downtown Houston
Job Summary: Processes and investigates damages to Electricity Company. Invoices and negotiates with the damaging party to collect for damages as appropriate. Assists/Directs outside collection agencies and legal counsel as required. Applies knowledge in multiple aspects of claims management.
Essential Functions:
- Conducts or assists in the investigation of damages to electric and gas facilities as well as automobile and other property damage claims filed by the Company
- Utilizes various business software and a claims database such as RiskMaster to accurately capture and record claims data
- Discusses and negotiates claim settlements with claimants, insurance companies and attorneys
- Assists outside agencies with collections and other related activities
- Work with Operations Folks on how the damage occurs.
- Performs other duties that may be assigned at the Company's discretion
- No field work involved.
- 13 total people in the Department (Assisting either with the Streetlights Team or Other Electrical Damages Team).
Background/Experience:
- Go after those who damage Company property.
- Package up the investigation package and the cost and send to vendor for collection.
- Background ? any insurance background (similar if they?ve been an insurance adjustor or collections (medial billing maybe).
- Entry level ? if they have a utility background somewhere else that could be helpful.
- They don?t have to have a whole lot of experience they will get most of the straightforward cases
- Comfortable working in SAP, Risk Connect, Risk Master (claims management software) would be a plus
