CCHS is recruiting behavioral health providers (BHPs) to serve children, adolescents, and families in school-based health centers operated by the Cabin Creek Health Systems (CCHS) in Kanawha County, West Virginia. Kanawha County includes Charleston, the state capital, and more rural and small-town areas nearby. CCHS is a progressive and innovative Federally Qualified Health Center with seven school-based health centers and six community health centers. Our mission is to promote the health and well-being of all people in our communities, especially the most vulnerable, through healthcare that is guided by science, compassion and respect and to contribute to the education of skilled and caring health professionals. CCHS has been providing school-based primary care with integrated behavioral health for over 15 years. Our school-based health centers provide services in elementary, middle, and high school settings. At CCHS, you will have the opportunity to provide much needed service to typically underserved populations who face barriers to accessing behavioral health services in rural areas.

School-based BHPs work with healthcare team members and school personnel to provide much needed behavioral health services on-site at school, as part of an integrated medical team. This approach to care makes physical and behavioral health care more accessible, comprehensive, and timely. School-based BHPs will provide outpatient behavioral health services, brief consultations (handoffs) with patients and members of the CCHS clinical staff, and collaborate with school staff including counselors, nurses, school psychologists, faculty, and administrators. In addition to clinical time, the work week is structured to also provide time for case consultation, learning and planning with peers and medical specialists, and projects that foster relationships with students and school personnel.
