Join a Healthcare organization in Alaska as Chief Financial Officer. The Chief Financial Officer will report to the CEO and provides leadership and administration in planning, organizing, managing and coordinating human, material, and fiscal resources for specified departments. The CFO represents the Senior Leadership Team in assigned committee meetings. The CFO participates in Administrator on-call duties and may assume responsibility for BRH in the absence of the CEO.

DO YOU ALIGN WITH THESE KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of four years experience as a hospital controller (or public accounting experience) AND five years of experience as a Chief Financial Officer for an acute care medical facility or hospital
  • Graduate Degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting
  • Experience as a public hospital CFO, experience with rural healthcare issues, and experience with Meditech Expanse, are preferred
  • Advanced degree such as MAC, MPA, or MBA, is preferred
  • CPA License and HFMA Certification is preferred
  • Prior supervision experience, multiple departments preferred.
WHAT WILL YOU DO

  • Develops annual operating and capital budgets for the medical center and its subsidiaries.
  • Develops the annual long-range financial plan in close cooperation with Senior Leadership Team.
  • Develops and negotiates payor contract relationships ensuring maintenance of harmonious relationships and achieving annual goals for overall percent increases and improvements in contract language provisions.
  • Oversees the efficient functions of the revenue cycle including customer services, systems, training, and quality assurance aspects.
  • Oversees policies and procedures pertaining to utilization review and discharge planning activities.
  • Prepares appropriate financial reports to monitor the overall financial performance of Bartlett Regional Hospital.
  • Helps develop strategies to maintain the financial well-being of the organization.
  • Helps position the organization’s delivery system.
  • Supervises Bartlett’s Department Directors of Patient Financial Services (PFS), Patient Access Services (PAS), Accounting, Health Information Management (HIM), Case Management, Information Services, Contracts/Risk Administrator, and Facilities.
  • Administers the general accounting, and patient business services, including third-party reimbursement, and financial and statistical reporting functions of the hospital in accordance with established policies and accounting procedures.
  • Assists the hospital’s CEO in the development of long and short-range hospital operation plans, which may include service demand analyses, resource availability analyses, and cost-benefit analyses of proposed capital and staff expansions.
  • Develops long and short-range operational and capital budgets, which are supported by the hospital’s long and short-range plans and objectives. Causes to be prepared cash flow analyses and budget variance. Provides consultative recommendations regarding budget modifications as required. Assists managers in the development of departmental budgets.
  • Monitors hospital fiscal performance in realizing established plans and objectives of the hospital. Identifies and reports trends and makes consultative recommendations for remedial action.
  • Causes to be prepared by hospital employees’ internal financial reports including work papers for annual financial audits by an outside public accounting firm.
  • Assumes a lead role in exploring and implementing means of managing and improving the financial performance of the hospital.
  • Oversees the preparation by hospital employees or outside firms of financial data and associated reports required by government and other regulating agencies including payroll tax reports and public disclosure reports.
  • Oversees and maintains internal accounting controls and other business office systems and procedures.
  • Oversees through hospital employees all area of the revenue cycle. Works to achieve efficiencies in the revenue cycle.
  • Consults and works closely and collegially with CBJ Finance and Administration
