Superior is currently seeking a Food Safety Quality Chemist to join our team in Indianapolis, IN. This is a newly created position to our company.

Responsibilities include:

• Perform sampling and quality control testing of products related to food, following test methods and procedures
• Calibrate and perform maintenance on instruments, such as gas chromatograph and infrared spectrometer
• Prepare and maintain instrument standards
• Define and update the specific quality procedures, instructions, and tools which are directly related to food.
• Coordinate and conduct internal Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) audits, identifying risk areas
• Handle basic food safety issues and problems without direct supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff
• Assist in food safety corrective actions, root causes and resolutions
• Assist in creating and maintaining online training for food safety activities
• Provide support to the Supplier Approval Program
• Travel is required, up to 20%

Candidates should possess:

• Bachelor's degree in a science related discipline
• 2-5 years of experience
• Working knowledge of risk analysis, GMP best practices, and an awareness of Food Safety regulations in addition to analytical testing skills
• Strong critical thinking and organizational skills
