Company: Good Shepherd of Northern Virginia is located in Loudoun County, Virginia. It is not- for- profit organization founded in 1983 by concerned church members wanting to provide shelter to the homeless of the community. Since that time the organization has grown to include Shelter for the homeless, Transitional Housing,
Homeless Prevention and a program of Neighbor Helping Neighbor through the operation of 3, soon to be 4, Thrift
Stores. The annual budget is $2.8 million dollars, with 35 FTE Employees. A volunteer Board of Directors is responsible for the organization.

Location: Administrative Offices are located in Ashburn, VA with program sites in Leesburg, Purcellville, Sterling and
Ashburn

Responsibilities: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Overall: Responsible for ensuring that the organization accomplishes the mission and vision of the organization through skillful administration, creative program operation, visionary strategic planning, and timely implementation of this plan.

1. Responsible for the hiring, training , supervision and retention of competent, qualified staff; for leading staff in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the Board of Directors
(BOD). This manner includes positive, cooperative and clear communication and action.

2. Responsible for communicating effectively with the BOD; assisting with organizing the BOD; providing timely and accurate information necessary for the BOD to function properly.

3. Responsible for the fiscal integrity of the organization, including submission to the Board a proposed annual budget for approval, as well as monthly financial statements, all of which accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization.

4. Responsible for developing and implementing effective communication and marketing strategies; enhancing the organization’s image by being active and visible in the community.

5. Responsible for leading a planning process that actively experiments to improve current systems, that provides assistance to staff with problem solving and that cultivates the potential of all staff to meet the mission of the organization.

Professional Qualifications Desired

• Bachelor’s degree minimum
• Five or more years senior management experience preferably with not-for-profit organizations
• Experience and skill in working with a Board of Directors
• High level strategic thinking and planning. Ability to envision and convey the organization’s strategic future to the staff, volunteers, BOD and donors, through effective written and oral communication
• A history of successfully generating new revenue streams and improving financial results
• Demonstrated financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting
• Demonstrated ability to supervise and increase individual staff member potential
• Strong work ethic with a high degree of energy and integrity
• Grant writing is a plus

Full-time Position with Salary commensurate with experience
No relocation funds available
