The Buyer is responsible for the sales, inventory turn, and profitability of the department to which they are assigned. Must execute business strategies, identify opportunities, and source innovative products that will ensure our position as a leader in the marketplace.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports directly to DMM. Works closely with Associate Buyers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyzes and manages business for future growth through experience, relationships, and information.
  • Maximizes performance of current product assortments.  Initiates, develops, and maintains vendor relationships.
  • Understands business classifications and gains insight from vendors, trade shows, customers, etc. to aggressively exploit all opportunities.
  • Identifies new, innovative products and other opportunities to grow the business.
  • Develops Associate Buyers to assume the next level of responsibility.
  • Develops and maintains effective professional relationships with all levels throughout the company.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Four-year college degree (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of three years as a Buyer in an off-price multi-unit organization.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Off-price retail Buying / Merchandising experience in a multi-unit organization
  • Computer proficiency with strong Microsoft Excel experience, and an aptitude for learning new software programs and applications  Domestic / International travel and product sourcing
  • Highly regarded reputation in the marketplace
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Highly attentive to detail and accuracy
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to share findings and actionable solutions with Buyer and/or Team
  • Strong organizational and planning skills to ensure timely and accurate execution of responsibilities
  • Able to set priorities, meet deadlines, and accomplish team objectives
  • Ability to work effectively and proactively as a member of the cross-functional team by communicating clearly and focusing on team objectives
  • Ability to build relationships, be personable, maintain a positive attitude, and collaborate with others
  • Ability to identify and execute priorities with a sense of urgency  Ability to facilitate multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability and willingness to travel on a regular basis SUPERVISION This position supervises Associate Buyers.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $92,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
