Pleasant Holidays, one of the largest travel wholesalers in the United States specializing in vacation travel to the Hawaiian Islands, Caribbean, Central & South America, Europe, Mexico, Middle East, South Africa, South Pacific (Australia, Cook Islands, Fiji, New Zealand & Tahiti), Asia, the United States & Canada, and cruise vacations worldwide, is seeking a Business Development Manager (BDM) – Pacific Northwest and Northern California.

Pleasant Holidays is a subsidiary of the Automobile Club of Southern California, a diversified insurance, roadside assistance, financial services and travel organization serving AAA Members for more than 100 years.

Summary

The Business Development Manager (BDM) position is an integral part of the Company’s sales growth strategy and we are looking for a highly motivated individual that will be responsible for relationship management with travel advisors, identifying new business opportunities, achieving financial goals in the assigned territory, and maintaining extensive knowledge of competitive market conditions.

Primary Duties:

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Travel Advisor Sales including Home Based Independent Contractors
  • Account management of current clients
  • Development of new travel agency accounts
  • Trade events and onsite / online training
  • Extensive travel required throughout the region including hosting of travel advisors and FAM trips to domestic and international destinations.
  • Participate in trade shows, seminars, and industry events, as required
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Prerequisites:

This highly motivated person must have:

  • Previous BDM experience in Pacific Northwest and/or Northern California preferred.
  • 3+ years of relevant travel industry experience with a proven track record of sales growth in leisure travel
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Extensive travel agency contacts and National / Consortia relationships
  • Success developing FIT, Groups and Wedding/Honeymoon travel business
  • Must be self-motivated with excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Meet all Safe Business Driving Program requirements including verification of driving record and possession of valid driver’s license.

Location:

Territory consists of Northern California: South Bay, Peninsula, Monterey, San Jose, San Francisco, North Bay, Sacramento, Reno/Lake Tahoe, Fresno and Pacific Northwest: Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming. Must reside within Northern California, Washington or Oregon.

Offer includes a competitive compensation package including base salary, performance incentives, company car, medical, dental, vision and travel benefits plus a 401(k) savings plan.

The Business Development Manager (BDM) is on a base salary plus incentive program with unlimited earning potential based upon the achievement of certain corporate financial and personal business goals and objectives for Pleasant Holidays; most earn between $80,000 - $100,000 annually.
