Branch Manager - Charlotte & Atlanta Job at Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, Inc.
Under the direction of the Country Manager, the incumbent is responsible, either personally or through subordinates, for managing his/her station in a manner that achieves optimal profitability through operational efficiencies high-level customer service, utmost integrity, and with a strong commitment to the Company Global DNA.
This role covers both ATL and CLT branches and may be located in either market.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works with existing sales team to execute sales strategy. This includes, but is not limited to, personally building and maintaining a book of business and providing executive coaching and support to team as needed.
- Maximizes profitability through strong, decisive and entrepreneurial leadership, while maintaining Hellmann’s high standards of quality and customer service.
- Fosters strong relationships with customers and vendors to strengthen Hellmann’s position in the marketplace.
- Operates station with the utmost integrity with full support of Hellmann’s Global DNA.
- Continually strives for additional value creation and efficiencies for our customers including improvement of existing KPIs.
- In collaboration with team, drives continuous improvement efforts throughout the station to improve our customer experience and to enhance operational efficiencies.
- Adapts to and manages change in a manner that results in little to no adverse impact to station or customers.
- Promotes global teamwork by working closely with global partners to identify and close business opportunities and to strengthen Hellmann’s brand throughout the world.
- Analyzes and interprets financial statements (i.e. P&L, Cash Flows, etc.) in order to maximize profits through sound business practices.
- Ensures adherence to Global and local policies and procedures to include Model Branch Processes as well as regulatory and governmental compliance.
- Takes ownership for the full P/L and performance of the Branch and takes action needed to meet budgeted guidelines and achieve defined KPI’s within the Branch.
- Addresses ongoing systemic issues with network performance, customer profitability, and process deviation in order to ensure quick and effective corrective actions.
- Proactively keeps management informed of major developments within the Branch.
- Actively manages and drives financially-related activities to include but not limited to, Accounts Receivable, File Level Closing, and profitability verification, and dispute resolution.
- Drives the company behavior within branch driving decisions and building business cases based on facts and financial data.
- Accountable for working with USA Product heads to facilitate product related training, address client and/or routing issues to ensure optimal product level performance at the branch level.
- Accountable for achieving and following up on corrective action plans within the Branch.
- Holds themselves and their team fiscally accountable and drives the team to meet financially related KPI’s and budgets.
- Ensures performance goals are set, performance is measured, and regular informal and formal feedback is provided to direct reports within assigned department
- Monitors and manages staffing levels and workload allocation across all sea product teams within assigned territory. This includes talent acquisition, furloughing, re-purposing, re-shifting, demotion, promotion, and severance
- Develops team and individuals within the team. Responsible for succession planning at product manager, supervisor, desk agent, and one’s own level
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position supervises up to fifty (50) full time employees and may supervise temporary employees from time to time based on projects.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree (Business, Logistics and Supply Chain, Transportation, or associate field), or equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered in lieu of educational requirement
- 15 – 20 years of experience in freight forwarding required with some sales/account management experience preferred
- 7-10 years of supervisory experience required
- Influencer level of talent to elevate the Hellmann brand as employer and service provider
- Ability to manage change while maintaining employees’ focus and trust
- Visionary approach in representing Hellmann – providing clarity, reducing ambiguity
- Financial acumen – understands business drivers
- Results-oriented – drives strategy and execution
- Leadership – demonstrates professionalism, is able to develop and lead a cohesive team
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Email, and Internet
- Proficient in world geography, shipping documentation, and Incoterms preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English in order to present information to customers, management, and subordinates in a professional setting
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as freight rates, discounts, and other percentages
- Analytical skills / problem-solving ability
- Coaching skills – able to train, coach, and develop subordinates
