Background
IICAPS Clinicians provide intensive home-based services to children at risk for psychiatric hospitalization. Services provided include individual and family therapy, parenting skills training, crisis support, extensive case management, and advocacy. IICAPS operates from a team approach and consists of a Clinician and Mental Health Counselor, both of whom participate in sessions and treatment meetings. A treatment plan tailored to the child and family is developed and implemented by the two-person team.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct services with early school-aged children and their families including but not limited to evaluation/assessment; home & community-based services; outreach; case and care management; individual and family therapies; crisis intervention; and behavioral analysis.
- Collaborate with other professionals, team members, and related community services (including consultation and/or community and/or school placements).
- Work in partnership with Case Manager (Mental Health Counselor) to provide tailored treatment plan
- Available to work a flexible schedule to support families - the majority of hours worked are in the later afternoon and evenings based on family's schedules.
- Practice clinical emphasis on child development and attachment.

Requirements
- Education: Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology/Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy or related human services field.
- Must hold one of the following credentials to start employment: LMSW, LCSW, LMFT, LPCA, LPC, or licensed or license-eligible psychologist in Connecticut.
- Experience: 2 years of post-graduate clinical experience working with early school-aged children or families is preferred. Experience in child development theory, family therapies, as well as family systems theory and practice, is preferred.
- Skill to maintain a professional, confidential work environment
- Ability to manage multiple tasks at one time in an efficient manner
- Ability to relate to children and families in a positive manner
- Ability to establish and maintain appropriate boundaries with children and families
- Bilingual English and Spanish required.
