Direct Support Staff (Caregiver)
Nova Home Support is looking for additional staff to help provide support to a sweet, funny 17-year-old boy with autism, mental illness, medical/ADL needs, & behavior challenges.
Support takes place in a private home designed to meet this boy’s unique needs, and in the community. A successful candidate would work as part of a team of three (or two, if overnight) highly-skilled staff members, dedicated to improving this boy's quality of life.
Supervision and guidance are provided by program management, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs).
This is an ideal job for those in the social services fields, those interested in behavioral health, aspiring nurses, Licensed Psychiatric Technicians, Direct Support Professionals, CNAs, home care aids, caregivers or companions, etc.

A successful candidate is reliable, people-oriented, energetic, upbeat, hard-working, caring and resourceful. He/she enjoys being with people with developmental disabilities and serving as a positive role model. Good oral and written communication skills are a must.
Qualifications include:
- Experience in a related field.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Valid California driver’s license & clean driving record.
- Successful passage of a criminal background check.
- Prior experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, mental illness, dementia, or similar challenges is preferred but not required.
Requirements:
- Ability to assist the individual with activities of daily living including bathing, toileting, and other self-help skills.
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds.
- Ability and willingness to support individuals with challenging behavior (including aggression, property destruction and disrobing).
- Ability to work as a member of a team, read and interpret documents, write specific reports, and help problem-solve.
- Demonstrated ability to master and implement all techniques used to safely manage behavioral challenges, including passing a company-provided Crisis Prevention Training course developed by QBS Safety-Care®, shortly after date of hire.
Work Schedule- Full-time or Part-time
Shifts are seven days a week from 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, and 11pm-7am. Specific shift availability varies.
Compensation: $25.50- $27.75/hour. Excellent benefits.
