Who We Are

The Central Exterminating Company was founded in Cleveland by entomologist Joseph Gross in 1940. After military service as a medical entomologist, Joseph Gross returned to civilian life in 1946 and was joined in the exterminating business by his brother-in-law, Joseph B. White. In June 1946, Joseph Gross and Joseph White organized Central Service and Exterminating Company as a partnership. After a year of selling and servicing accounts themselves, the first servicemen were hired in 1947 and the operations of the company rapidly expanded to include branch offices in Sandusky, Fremont, Akron, Canton, Wooster, Lorain, and Elyria.

Central Exterminating Company is a local corporation with three office locations covering most of Northern Ohio. Responsibilities:

Operate as a service technician providing heat-based control of bed bug activity in residential and commercial settings. Particularly, this role in charge of the following:

• Manage and manipulate heating equipment, such as heater units, fans, power cables, and temperature sensors, during service setup, process, and tear down (physical lifting required).
• Work alongside fellow technicians to thoroughly process the treatment site and its contents (physical lifting and exposure to high temperatures required).
• Ensure effective heating for optimal bed bug control (122°-135° Fahrenheit) throughout the treatment zone.
• Safely operate equipment box trucks (approximately 12 feet) and tow double-axel, diesel generators (Prior driving/towing experience is a plus).
• Record and maintain accurate notes regarding individual treatment processes and temperature monitoring.
• Perform basic, routine and as-needed maintenance to heating equipment.
• Routinely monitor and maintain vehicle and diesel generator fuel levels (company gas card provided).

• With or without experience as we will train the right candidate, but experience is a plus.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• Valid Driver’s License and a clean driving record
