Associate Director - Risk Appetite Framework, Calibration & Reporting

What you'll do:
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and driving enhancements to, as well as facilitating the execution of enterprise activities within the firm’s Risk Appetite Framework. This includes on-going maintenance of the firm's Risk Appetite Framework and Statement, metric identification and threshold calibration, meeting governance and regulatory requirements, as well as reporting to senior management and the Board. This key position plays a crucial role in supporting clear and consistent articulation of the firm's risk appetite, appropriate capture of material risks facing the firm and integration of both with the firm's day-to-day risk management practices to ensure those risks are properly managed, monitored and controlled.

Reporting to the Director of Strategic Risk Initiatives, the ideal candidate will be driven to build and scale, ready to challenge the status quo, able to comprehensively synthesize and communicate information, as well as driven to continuously improve. The Strategic Risk Initiatives team is part of the Bank’s wider Risk Management department and a rapidly growing team focused on providing expert guidance, credible challenge, and effective oversight of risk-taking activities throughout the Bank.
What we are looking for:
Responsibilities
  • Deliver the end-to-end design, update, review and challenge of the firm’s Risk Appetite Framework and Statement, including deepening internal connectivity with business and risk management processes to ensure robust and relevant content and stakeholder participation.
  • Identify and execute enhancements to the Risk Appetite Framework by refining key risk metrics/indicators and establishing linkages with relevant enterprise limit structures/thresholds to strengthen connectivity between risk appetite and the firm’s strategic planning, capital planning and risk identification processes.
  • Collaborate with senior management across all Three Lines Of Defence to identify opportunities for enhancements to the control environment surrounding the firm’s processes, including risk identification, risk governance and risk appetite frameworks.
  • Support the engagement of senior management across the firm to socialize program enhancements and attend various senior-level risk committees to advance the implementation of those enhancements through challenge discussions.
  • Participate in, and where relevant lead aligned assurance initiatives across the Three Lines of Defence, such as developing and implementing a methodology for 2nd Line of Defence Risk Assessments.
  • Participate in, and where relevant lead deliverables related to broader senior management and Board reporting, analysis, and communication.
  • Support regulatory and audit reviews at various levels.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • 10 years of direct or related experience in Risk Management, Internal Audit, Finance, Public Accounting, Business Management, or Management Consulting
  • Applied knowledge of general banking operations and governance practices, industry trends, competitive landscape, and corporate strategy
  • Applied knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices
  • Experience with enterprise-wide change management principles and/or complex initiatives
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proven ability to interact with all levels of an organization, especially senior management
  • Ability to drive multiple agendas simultaneously to achieve continuous outcomes
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills
