Position Summary:
We’re seeking an energetic and motivated assistant controller who can make an immediate impact. This is an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Controller who has a strong interest in working for a company that is growing quickly across an array of fitness and lifestyle brands in North America.
As the Assistant Controller, you are responsible for overseeing and supporting RSG Group’s annual financial statements and audits for multiple brands across North America. This position is based out of our Dallas support office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and/or annual financial reports to Chief Financial Officer and Controller for incorporation into the RSG Group’s financials.
- Manages accounting team with recording revenues, expenditures, assets, and liabilities for our general ledger for all our brands.
- Reviews accurate, timely income statements and balance sheet accounts at month-end, research variances and resolve issues as part of the monthly General Ledger close process.
- Prepares work papers and schedules in a logical format that are easy to review, analyze period vs. period and actual vs. forecast variances.
- Analyzes financial statements for discrepancies and verifies accurate ledgers of adequate balances and reconciles monthly and annual reports.
- Manages and reviews posting of entries to such ledgers as general, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Provides recommendations to management relative to planning and revising budgets within their departments.
- Coordinate with the CFO and Controller to establish and implement short/long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
- Recommends methods and procedures to improve the functioning of the accounting area.
- Reviews all recorded transactions in ledgers and journals are in accordance with GAAP or other required accounting standards.
- All duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- At least ten (10) years of experience in corporate accounting or Finance. At least two (2) years of supervisory experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent work experience. CPA certified is preferred.
- Prior experience in proofing, preparing annual financial statements and coordinating annual audits.
- Prior experience in reviewing general ledger account reconciliations.
- Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables and formulas are essential.
- Strategic and creative thinker with impeccable attention to detail and strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- Must be able to build relationships, genuine connections, and trust, both internally and externally.
- Ability to work both collaboratively and autonomously; thrives under pressure and ambiguity.
- Must be proactive and possess strong organization and prioritization skills. Must have a high attention to detail, unique ability to manage multiple projects and priorities, resolve adverse situations, identify value options, and influence others.
- Must demonstrate excellent communication skills and be able to communicate clearly in all various modes (verbal, written, text, etc.). Must have well-developed interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.
- Advanced user knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Excel, Word, and Outlook.
