Job Summary:
The Archives Librarian is a member of the Archives and Digital Collections Department and is responsible for overseeing the physical collections housed within the Archives and Special Collections at Dayton Memorial Library. This is a promotion-track, faculty position; duties and responsibilities are understood
in reference to the terms and conditions set forth in the Library Faculty Handbook.
About the department: The Archives and Digital Collections Department is responsible for oversight of physical and digital archives, the university institutional repository, digitization and digital contentcapture, circulating and streaming media, circulating media equipment, and consultation for digital
projects. Our aim is to provide access to collections reflective of our diverse community and to support learning, teaching, research, and personal enrichment.
The Archives and Special Collections are reflective of diverse topics including Regis History, Jesuit traditions, art, cultural history, science, and politics. This includes the renowned Santo Collection which is composed of over 1,000 objects created in the distinctive santo style which developed in northern
New Mexico and southern Colorado in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential:
1. Provides oversight for the physical archival collections and collection management systems. This includes accession and deaccession of physical collections in accordance with collection development policy, conservation and preservation for physical materials, implementing measures to make physical collections more widely accessible and assisting with reference and research requests.
2. In collaboration with department members, conducts outreach and develops programming to engage the university community while raising awareness of the collections. This may include instruction, exhibits, tours, social media, programs, and events.
3. Actively engages students and student groups, faculty, staff, and community members in engaging with the collections with an aim to amplify and elevate under-represented communities.
4. Works closely with faculty and students to offer primary source literacy instruction. Promotes opportunities to embed archival collections into teaching and learning practice.
5. Serves as bibliographer and faculty liaison to teaching departments for collection development within assigned subject areas. As a member of the library faculty, serves on library and university-wide committees.
6. Participates in professional activities, including research, publication, and service to fulfill research and scholarship requirements for academic rank and promotion. Participates in various functions of the university to support the values and mission of Regis University.
7. Participates in directing the work of staff and student workers.
EDUCATION: Possession of a master's degree in Library Science, Archival Studies, or related field, or evidence of progress toward completion of degree by Spring 2023.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of one year of professional archival and/or library experience, preferably in an academic setting.
- Demonstrated commitment to cultivating an environment of diversity and inclusion.
- Ability to communicate collegially and to contribute constructively within a team setting.
- Experience using collection management systems such as ArchivesSpace, AToM, or similar.
- Demonstrated understanding of best practices related to archives management including acquisitions and donor relations, arrangement, description, and preservation.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE:
- Experience demonstrating ethical handling of collections that document culturally diverse and/or sensitive subjects.
- Experience with fundraising and grant writing.
- Experience providing primary source literacy instruction and embedding archival collections into teaching and learning environments.
- Supervisory experience.

Pay Rate:
$48,000 to $56,000 commensurate with qualifications
