Gan Shalom is located in the heart of Capitol Hill and serves about 20-30 children between the ages of 2 and 4 years old. At Gan Shalom we believe children construct their own knowledge and develop the cognitive skills they will need throughout their lives through play and exploration. It is our desire to provide a warm, loving Jewish environment where each child feels secure and happy, and where learning is meaningful and fun.

Open Positions for 2022-2023

• Afternoon Co-Teacher: (2pm - 6pm 5 hours per day, 25 hours per week) Join our afternoon co-hort from 2-6pm for naptime, outdoor play and enrichment

• Substitute Teachers: On-call. 5-6 hour shift.

Qualifications and Responsibilities

• BA in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred. Minimum requirement: CDA with 2+ years of experience in an early childhood education setting.
• Loves working with children.
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
• Be responsible for children’s safety at all times and in all settings.
• Plan and implement engaging, intentional, inquiry-based, emergent curriculum.
• Provide high quality interactions focusing on each child’s personal needs.
• Comfort taking children outdoors at least 45 minutes each day.
• Maintain an organized classroom environment .
• Communicate regularly with families through messaging platform and/or email.
• Attend weekly planning meetings, monthly staff meetings, and 2 days of professional development per year.

Pay and Benefits

• Afternoon Teacher: $20-25/per hour commensurate with experience and qualifications.This position offers 29 days of paid leave during the school year. 9 days paid federal holidays, 5 Jewish holidays, 5 days for Winter Break in December, 5 days for Spring Break in April, plus paid sick days and flexible PTO.
• Substitute Teacher: Availble on call for a flat rate contract rate of $100/day

• Position begins January
