What do After School Group Leaders do?
- The afterschool group leader assists the Site Supervisor in planning, organizing and implementation of quality childrens programs for the YMCA and directly supervises children ages 5-12 in accordance with the Mission Statement of the Channel Islands YMCA.
- Supervises up to 12 children, enforcing rules, which will provide a fun, safe environment for all.
- Plan, prepares, implements, and evaluates activities on a monthly basis.
- Maintain proper control using constructive methods, keeping in mind each child's individual needs.
- Maintain a professional attitude with parents, staff, school personnel and children at all times.
What we look for in an After School Group Leader:
- CPR (Adult and Pediatric), AED and First Aid certified.
- TB Test and Health Screening required. TB test must be less than 1 year old.
- Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma.
- This person must possess a minimum of 12 units of Child Development, Recreation, Elementary Education, or related field accepted by licensing.
- Understanding of child development and lesson plans recommended.
- Must have one year experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
