Position Summary:

Responsible for admitting patients when they arrive to the facility. Ensure that all pertinent questions are asked and that all necessary documentation/paperwork is completed accurately. Process and receive payments on patient accounts.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide patients with admission services including: patient interview, preparation of registration forms, and other
    admission/transfer related requirement.
  • Create a positive customer service environment.
  • Welcome visitors in person or on the telephone, answering inquires; relaying calls to patients or to the correct department;
    giving directions; referring inquires to appropriate departments.
  • Receive and document payments on patient accounts completely and accurately.
  • Register patients completely and accurately as they present to the department.
  • Maintain department operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment in compliance with healthcare procedures and regulations.
  • Monitor and coordinate maintenance of equipment operation and inventory.
  • Check and maintain supplies inventory for the department.
  • Subject to irregular hours.
  • May be required to wear personal protective equipment as directed.
  • Follow infection control and isolations guidelines.
  • Adhere to all hospital polices and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

The Admission Clerk must have the ability to move around freely, walk and sit for long periods of time; use stomach and lower back muscles to support the body for long periods without getting tired; use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls; bend or twist their body; understand the speech of another person and speak clearly so listeners can understand; and see details of objects that are less than a few feet away and at a distance.
