Job Description:
The Oregon State Police, Portland Forensic Laboratory in Clackamas, Oregon is hiring for one (1) Full-Time, Limited Duration Administrative Specialist 2 position – expected to end on or before 12 months from date of hire. This grant funded Limited Duration appointment may be extended beyond the 12 months or may end prior to the 12 months, based upon funding. Limited Duration appointments are regular status and benefits eligible.

What will you do?
The mission of the Oregon State Police Forensic Services Division is to provide scientific, technical and investigative support to the criminal justice system.
As an Administrative Specialist 2 in this position, you will provide administrative support to the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) team within the DNA unit, ensuring that team, unit, and laboratory goals are met. This includes assisting law enforcement agencies, district attorneys, and the public, as well as providing internal support for DNA analysts and supervisors.
The nature of this work involves dealing with sensitive issues which require confidentiality and must be handled with tact and diplomacy.

Minimum Qualifications
(these must be addressed in your resume for full consideration):
Two years of experience as an administrative specialist or executive support specialist which included administrative support for a project, program, or operation. Administrative support includes those duties beyond clerical/secretarial such as: interpretation of laws, rules, and regulations; administrative data collection and analysis; and evaluation of projects, processes, and operations; OR
Two years of experience as an administrative specialist or executive support specialist which included administrative support for a project, program, or operation. Administrative support includes those duties beyond clerical/secretarial such as: interpretation of laws, rules, and regulations; administrative data collection and analysis; and evaluation of projects, processes, and operations; OR
An equivalent combination of training and experience.
One year of postsecondary education may be substituted for up to one year of the experience.

Proven ability to deal with stressful and emotional situations in a professional manner, to include the acceptance of decisions made by others, even without full agreement (e.g., implementation of new policies and procedures).

Demonstrated ability to effectively work with a variety of computer programs and databases, to include the Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Capture Perfect, Department of Corrections Inmate Management (DOC400), and Law Enforcement Data Systems (LEDS).
Special Qualifications:

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.

Must be able to provide credible sworn testimony in a criminal or civil proceeding arising from the performance of duties.

As a condition of employment and/or to routinely work in any of the Forensic Services Division’s laboratories in any capacity, all individuals are required to provide appropriate samples for inclusion into the Confidential Staff DNA Identification Index.

Must pass a urine analysis drug screen.
