Position Overview:*
The Accounts Payable Associate position is an introductory role designed to prepare you for a successful accounting career at IB Abel. In this role, you will develop core skills integral to accounting within a construction environment via on-the-job exposure and a series of formalized, targeted training courses.
You will join a team with a wide range of experience in accounting in an ever-changing field. Help continue the success of a company with over a 110-year legacy in the electrical contracting industry!

Location:*
This position is based in the York office and, after training, this person will have some flexibility to occasionally work from home when appropriate.
Responsibilities:
- Processing and payment of vendor invoices to maximize cash discounts
- Monitor and streamline AP Invoice Workflow and label invoices
- Reconcile vendor statements to IB Abel records
- Assist with check runs
- Maintain tax exemption certificate files
- Build relationships with primary vendors
- Communicate any workflow or backlog issues you may notice to colleagues and management with staff on issues noticed within workflow, as well as timely communication to management with backlog issues.
- Occasionally provide back-up coverage for the front desk in our York office
Qualifications:
Required:
- HS Diploma
Other:
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles
- Understanding of Vista Viewpoint Software
- Knowledge of sales tax
Desired:
- 3 years’ experience with accounts payable in the construction industry
- Associate’s Degree
