The Market Pavilion Hotel, located in Charleston South Carolina is seeking an Accounting Manager to join our team.

What you will be doing
The Accounting Manager will work closely with senior property level and corporate level management. The candidate is responsible for overseeing all of the day to day accounting activity for the hotel, restaurant and retail operations, while delivering outstanding guest service. The manager will personally resolve guest billing and accounting questions throughout the course of the business day for our hotel and restaurant clients. The ideal candidate will be even tempered with strong accounting, interpersonal skills, organizational skills as well as written and verbal communication skills. Previous client services experience in a hospitality role or experience in a luxury hospitality client services / sales environment is ideally preferred. Ideal candidates should have 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, 2+ years in a club, resort, hotel, or amenities environment. A degree in accounting is highly preferred, but not required.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest of standards:
- Execute all day to day banking needs.
- Manage and distribute daily gratuities to service staff members.
- Reconcile the daily accounting and cash receipts to ensure proper account balancing.
- Work closely with the corporate accounting office to transmit daily operational information. Visits to our local corporate office 7 miles away will be required 1-3 times per week.
- Manage accounts Payable and receivables to include travel agent and travel booking website commissions reporting.
- Identify and reconcile General Ledger accounts, daily discrepancies and aging accounts.
- Ensure processing and accuracy of reports including, but not limited to daily and monthly forecasts.
- Ensure the correct downloading of data into timekeeping systems.
- Manage weekly submission of time and attendance data, including gratuities to the corporate office.
- Calculate and produce daily deposit transmittals for received checks.
- Issue paychecks to staff members on a biweekly basis.
- Oversee and distribute employee commission and special program payouts on a weekly basis.
- Oversee and process daily arrival reporting with respect to arriving hotel guests to ensure that guests needs are being fulfilled by the Front of the House staff.
Work with property management (hotel guest software) to:
- Input VIP reservations when asked by the Director
- Review billing and reporting on a daily basis
- Ensure the days receipts balance from the previous day and period in question.
- Ensure that all billing and receipts are accounted for
- Process and promptly respond to incoming emails and phone calls.
- Conduct Human resources relations to include: New hire documentation, ongoing employee property documentation and corrective action documentation pertaining to employee errors in accounting or attendance.
- Periodically conduct preliminary phone calls to setup employee interviews for the Director.
- Assist with processing new employees and provide administration assistance with respect to their online training documentation.
- Maintain employee records, new hire documentation, and record all information regarding employees into the company’s human resources system.
- Must be willing to hold staff members accountable and document employee infractions and violations as they occur with respect to staff members not adhering to company behavioral or monetary policies.
- Must have the demonstrated experience in budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, accounting.
- Manage 5 star guest review counts on a weekly basis and calculate incentive payments (every Friday)
- Calculate incentive payments on a weekly basis for Guest Services Restaurant reservation production (every Friday)
- Distribute gratuities for Events to staff members calculated on a weekly basis (every Friday)
- Strong follow-up skills and good judgment
- Ability to identify inconsistencies and solve problems
This Accounting manager position is an employment contract position, which may require a minimum length of service for 2 years with our company.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
