Stuart Hose & Pipe sells hose, fittings and associated products through 7 locations in the DFW Metroplex, Houston, Longview and Midland, Texas. The company sells its products to all industries with constructions, transportation, oil and gas being key end markets. Stuart’s operations cater to both counter-type customers as well as traditional larger industrial companies. Approximately half of customers pay at the counter with cash or credit cards and the other half are mainly small accounts sold on an open credit line.

The Accounting Analyst/ Collections position is accountable for collecting the maximum amount of overdue funds from customers, which may include a variety of customer locations, collection methods, legal claims, and the selective use of outside collection services. This position will also be responsible for analyzing customer accounts and handling any disputes.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Identifying delinquent accounts requiring external collection efforts
• Researching account disputes and billing discrepancies
• Contact customers regarding overdue accounts and determine reasons for non-payment
• Issue payment commitment letters
• Maintain accurate records about the customer payment status
• Reviews bankruptcy cases
• Sends out customer invoices and statements
• Online invoicing for some customers using their web-based portals.
• Handling different types of disputes including: PO issues, pulling proof of deliveries, payment disputes, investigating cash accounts
• Reports to Controller and interacts with outside sales team and the Chief Sales Officer for specific accounts
• Candidate will work as a key part of the accounting/finance team and will provide backup and support as needed to the team as directed by the Controller.

What We Need From You:

• 3+ years of collections experience
• College Degree in an Accounting field preferred, but not required
• Customer service, negotiation, communication and analytical skills
• Ability to adapt to and work in a variety of situations to support the company’s goals
• Must be detail oriented, with the ability to work independently
• Intermediate Excel and Microsoft skills preferred
