General Statement of Duties
Under the general direction of the Dean of Academic Affairs, the Academic Coordinator provides holistic and proactive support to both continuing and returning students who are at academic risk by addressing academic and non-cognitive factors that directly affect course completion and academic standing. The Academic Coordinator monitors academic progress, creates academic plans for reinstated students, assists students with registration, and performs outreach to academically vulnerable students and students referred by faculty and staff. The Academic Coordinator works collaboratively with Student Services, the Learning Success Center, the ACT Center, Student Financial Services and other campus offices to advocate for student needs. The Academic Coordinator collaborates with MWCC faculty and staff to support the creation and implementation of the College's retention plan, coordinates and facilitates retention and student success-related trainings and initiatives, and assists with the day-to-day operation of the THRIVE Center.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates and provides holistic and proactive support to at-risk students, including but not limited to students in unsatisfactory academic standing, veterans, and students receiving early alerts, by addressing factors that directly affect course completion and academic standing.
- Serves as academic counselor for a caseload of assigned students in unsatisfactory academic standing.
- Collaborates with MWCC faculty and staff in support of the College's retention efforts.
- Participates in the creation of the College's comprehensive retention plan.
- Under general direction of Dean of Academic Affiars, coordinates activities related to the operations of THRIVE Center, retention, and student success initiatives.
- Maintains working knowledge of college and professional academic, career, and student success practices to enhance ability to serve students and positively impact student success.

Job Requirements:**
Minimum Qualifications:*
- Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Sociology, or closely related field;
- Five (5) years experience and/or training that includes academic advisement, academic placement, counseling, career development, math/electronics teaching, or program/project management; or
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Additional Information:*
Salary: $63,608.00-$108,418.00 **
Actual Salary determined by education, experience and any applicable grant limitations per the collective bargaining agreement. Applicants should be aware it is unlikely the salary will be at or near the top of the range.
