Works under the general supervision of the Chief Financial Officer but requires extensive personal initiative and ability to work without constant supervision.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Supervises the daily operation of the Accounting Section to include: General Ledger, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets. Responsible for the preparation of financial reports and balance sheets. Develop and write policies and procedures for both internal operations and Center wide activities. Responsible for overseeing credit card processes, both merchant services and procurement card. Provide training to immediate staff and all Center staff as needed or required. Primary contact for all financial audits and reviews by Health and Human Services and any external audit firm. Responsible for backup preparation of Medicaid Administrative Claiming financial reporting, Cost Administrative Claiming, and CARE Report III. Responsible for Cost Reports to include preparing, training, delegating, etc. HFC incorporates principles of trauma-informed care throughout the agency, emphasizing cultural sensitivity and a safe and respectful environment for all individuals served and staff. All job descriptions include the responsibility to learn about and implement trauma-informed practices within the scope of work for the position. Reassignment is a condition of employment that may occur at the employers discretion. Your work location and hours could change based on program needs. Possibly subject to federal vaccination mandate, including provisions for claiming exemptions.

Education, Training, and Experience

Bachelors degree from accredited college or university with major in accounting. CPA beneficial, but not required.

Experience in accounting and financial operations. Must have current drivers license and be insurable under Center

insurance. Must pass and maintain all Center-mandated trainings.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate in both an oral and written manner and
  • demonstrate initiative by actively pursuing efficiency understand complex written and oral instructions.
  • Must possess critical thinking skills and the ability to correctly apply generally accepted accounting principles, complex agency regulations and procedures.
  • Able to converse with staff and senior management from agencies outside of the Center.
  • Able to present briefings and training materials.
  • Skilled in the use of personal and network computers, spreadsheet, and office management software.
  • Prepare instructions to staff and other Center employees, as well as letters to outside agencies and offices.
  • Fully competent on word processing and spreadsheet programs. Also, experience in working with large data bases and report generators.
  • Ability to use office machines such as calculator, computer, printer, fax machine, and copier
